Park Regis Kris Kin Dubai hotel review

Park Regis Kris Kin: Finding a Dubai hotel dedicated to environmental best practice and sustainability can be a challenge. Not just because of the extreme climate conditions, but also because as a destination Dubai has traditionally put strong emphasis on business, shopping and luxury tourism.

However, even in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates more generally, environmental awareness is on the rise, together with the realization that green initiatives aren’t just the right thing to do, but also make a lot of sense economically. One of these hotels on a sustainability mission is five-star Park Regis Kris Kin, which is where we stayed during a four-day stopover in Dubai back in July 2014.

Location!

From a traveler’s view, a key argument for staying at Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel is its ideal location close to Dubai Museum and the historic precinct of Dubai. Burjuman Shopping Centre and the very efficient and affordable Dubai Metro are right opposite the hotel. Those with little luggage, take the metro from the airport and in a few minutes you’ll be at the hotel, which in turn is within easy reach of the city’s major leisure and business establishments.

The 390-room five-star hotel is the ideal address for both business and leisure travellers enjoying close proximity to Dubai Museum, Spice Souk, Gold Souk and Dubai World Trade Centre. It boasts a range of restaurants, a sports bar, rooftop pool, fitness centre, event facilities for up to 220 people and a business centre. Room amenities include Wi-Fi, interactive TV system with 100+ channels, desk and mini-bar, tea and coffee-making equipment, designer bathrooms and 24-hour room service. All the specs you would expect from a business-focused five-star hotel.

Hotel on a sustainability mission

During our stay we caught up with Scott Butcher, General Manager of Park Regis Kris Kin Dubai. He told us about the green initiatives already in place or currently being rolled out at the hotel (which is Green Globe certified). We particularly like the “Green Tip of the Day” idea conceived by the hotel’s dedicated Green Team (which includes representatives of the different departments).

Apart from sharing green tips on the hotel’s Facebook page, there is also a printed version to go on desks in hotel rooms (picture below).

Scott further tells us that “Sustainable practice is an essential part of our long-term business strategy, which I firmly believe can be carried out without compromising on guest comfort or services. For environmentally conscious companies and travelers, the green agenda is a key consideration these days when choosing hotels. People do want to protect the planet by making responsible environmental choices. Now at the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai they can surely enjoy their stay with a clear conscience.”

After a long day under Dubai’s merciless sun and heat, the hotel rooftop pool is a nice place to relax. Although not very big, it does have a million dollar view over the city skyline and the majestic Burj Kalifa tower. All in all, while there isn’t any “green feel” about Park Regis Kris Kin, its commitment to sustainability and environmental best practice, and its ideal location make it a great place to stay when visiting Dubai.
